This two-day LTA Tennis Assistant (Level 1) qualification is ideal for tennis parents, enthusiasts, or keen players looking for the knowledge and skills to support group coaching sessions, alongside a lead coach.

This course is running on the following dates:

  • Sunday 14th February 2027 (9am - 5pm)
  • Sunday 21st March 2027 (9am - 5pm)

Course prerequisites:
There are a few prerequisites to ensure this course is right for you:

• Be 16 years old, on or before the first day of the course

• Before Day 1 of the course, you must have a signed ‘Letter of Deployment’ from the venue where your four hours of qualification experience will take place. You will need to bring the completed and signed Letter of Deployment with you on Day 1. The letter and further information will be provided in your booking confirmation email.

Important: Please ensure you read your booking confirmation email carefully after registering, as this contains important information regarding the Letter of Deployment, qualification experience and current DBS/PVG requirements.

During this course you will learn:
• Communication, organisation, and differentiation skills for group coaching
• Basic tactical, technical, physical and mental development frameworks
• Other key assistant skills, from safeguarding to LTA Youth delivery

Once qualified, LTA assistants are fully trained to assist a lead coach at any venue. This course is designed so that sessions can be run with larger numbers, or a session with the same group numbers can be run with higher quality. The course learning outcomes are delivered at beginner level and focusing on red stage coaching. However, you’ll cover basic knowledge and skills that can be applied to any age and level of player.

Course duration and structure:
This qualification is made up of two separate elements – Training and Assessment
Training: Two days of face-to face training time, separated by a minimum of three weeks (to provide time for four hours of work experience and time to complete coursework).
Assessment: Although there is no final assessment, you will be continually assessed throughout the course.

Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations

Court Craft are committed to ensuring qualifications and courses are accessible for all. For those who would like to apply for reasonable adjustments (RA) or special considerations (SC), please fully read our policies and how to apply guide (found here: How to Apply) .

It is important to note, if the RA / SC is required pre-course (for LTA Readiness Tests, for example) or post (LTA Assessments) LTA qualifications, this must be done separately with the LTA. The relevant links for the different processes are included in the how to apply guides.

For Court Craft RA / SC, please apply no later than 14 days before the start of the course / workshop / online learning to allow the team to assess the application and give the required support.
